Where can I find the software for my product?

To access the software, please register your product to access the FreqPortal, customer portal. Once registered, you’ll be able to download the necessary software directly from the portal, and gain access to articles, support, and other resources.

I want to buy a used Freqport product. How can I register a pre-owned unit and use it?

To register a pre-owned Freqport product in your name, the previous owner must first unregister the unit from their account. This prevents registration conflicts and allows ownership to be transferred correctly.

Once the unit has been unregistered, the new owner can use the Product Registration page to add it to their account. The registered product will then appear in FreqPortal, providing access to product-specific resources and support.

Can I use multiple FreqInOut FO1 units?

Yes. With the current FreqSoft software, up to four FreqInOut FO1 units can be used together, providing up to 16 analog inputs and 16 analog outputs.

A single FO1 provides 4×4 analog I/O. The Dual FreqInOut FO1_2RK combines two FO1 units in a 1U rackmount configuration, providing 8×8 analog I/O.

When connecting multiple units, use the Auto ID function in AnalogHub during the initial setup. This assigns a unique identifier to each connected unit. Do not run Auto ID again unless you intentionally need to reassign the units.

Is FreqInOut FO1 a sound card?

No. FreqInOut FO1 is not intended to replace your main audio interface or sound card. It is a dedicated USB-C outboard-integration system that works alongside your existing Core Audio or ASIO interface.

FO1 adds four dedicated analog send-and-return paths for external hardware, together with plugin-based routing, level control, latency compensation, parallel processing, M/S processing, and session recall.

Can I use FO1 for parallel and M/S processing?

Yes. The FreqInOut plugin’s Hardware Mix control lets you blend dry and processed signals for parallel-processing workflows, while its M/S mode supports Mid/Side processing.

The built-in analog matrix also lets you reroute and chain connected hardware without repatching or introducing additional digital routing stages.

Whats the difference to upgrading your interface to have more i/o?

Upgrading your audio interface gives you more conventional inputs and outputs. FreqInOut FO1 is designed specifically to integrate external analog processors into your DAW with a plugin-style workflow.

It provides hardware routing, send and return level control, sample-accurate latency compensation, Hardware Mix for parallel processing, M/S processing, analog-matrix routing, and session recall—without replacing your existing audio interface. Additional FO1 units can also be added through USB when more dedicated outboard-processing paths are required.

Does this feature only support on/off switching, or is there a plugin version with parameters that can be assigned to the device’s knobs?

It provides considerably more than on/off switching. The FreqInOut plugin controls hardware routing, unit and device selection, send and return levels, phase, delay trim, bypass, Hardware Mix for wet/dry processing, M/S processing, and analog-matrix routing. These plugin settings are saved with your DAW session.

However, the FO1’s physical controls are not assignable plugin controllers, and the plugin cannot move or automate the knobs and switches on connected analog equipment. The plugin’s photo-capture feature lets you save a visual reference of your outboard hardware settings with the session for easier manual recall.

Can I record instruments or microphones via the FreqInOut unit?

FreqInOut FO1 has four balanced line-level inputs. You can record line-level sources such as synthesizers, outboard equipment, or signals coming from an external microphone preamp.

FO1 does not include microphone preamps, Hi-Z instrument inputs, or 48 V phantom power. Microphones therefore require an external microphone preamp, while guitars and similar instruments normally require a suitable DI box or instrument preamp.

The plugin provides gain controls for level matching, but these do not replace a microphone or instrument preamp.
