Optimizing your DAW

Optimizing your DAW

General information

Freqtube is a real-time hardware based plugin and real-time rendering needs to be used in your DAW project when bouncing or recording (not off-line bounce).

The freqport system runs separately to the main audio I/O used in your DAW. Use a Core Audio or ASIO driver as your DAW main audio interface and ensure your project plays in real-time without audio dropouts or cpu overloads before using freqtube.

  1. Make sure that freqtube is not selected as audio device
  2. Disable freqtube in your MIDI settings
  3. Freqtube HUB  must have access to the microphone in the system settings (MAC)
  4. Buffer Size: preferably set to 512 (or any setting from 32 up to 1024)
  5. Always close all open projects/sessions before opening a new project - some DAW's may not release hardware instances for new projects unless currently loaded projects are closed first.
  6. It's recommended to disable all Plug-in Nap features

Ableton

  1. Preferences->Audio Devices-> ensure that freqtube is NOT selected for any device
  2. Preferences->Link/Midi->Midi Input/Output-> ensure freqtube is DISABLED for all midi (Track, Sync, Remote).
  3. Options->Delay compensation-> Enable.
  4. Preferences->Audio-> Buffer Size: set to 512 (or any setting from 32 up to 1024).
  5. When exporting (bouncing) in real-time please follow Ableton requirements in the link below:

Logic

  1. Preferences->MIDI->INPUTS [Disable Freqtube tickbox]
  2. Preferences->AUDIO->General-> Plug-In Latency Compensation -> All (with pre-roll)
  3. Preferences->AUDIO->Devices->Process Buffer Range->Small
  4. I/O buffer size set to 512 (or any setting from 32 up to 1024).
  5. On first use Logic may try to use freqtube as its main audio interface, select "Don't Use", or follow next step.
  6. Preferences->AUDIO->Devices->Output/Input devices ensure that freqtube is NOT selected (this step will be required if you selected "Use" in previous step).

Studio One

  1. Please ensure that VST3 and AU versions are not loaded together in same project.
  2. Recommend that the Device Block Size is not greater than 1024.
  3. When using Drop Out Protection setting ensure that Process Block Size is not greater than 2048.
  4. Always "File:Close All" projects before opening a project (Studio One may not release freqtube instances for new projects unless currently loaded projects are closed first).
  5. Recommend to disable the Plug-in Nap feature.
  6. [Windows only] issue: When exporting StudioOne can mistakenly mute freqtube or close the hub. To workaround this start Export mix while already playing and "shake the box" to workaround this known StudioOne issue. Please check back here for status update in near future.
